Egyptian design duo siblings Aya and Mounaz Abdelraouf launched their brand Okhtein – meaning, appropriately, “sisters” in Arabic – because of their vision to redefine the idea of “luxury.”

In a fast-paced world where fashion is ever-changing, OKHTEIN believes in designing statement pieces and utilizing the finest materials to last in any wardrobe, taking the hearts of celebrities like Beyonce, Olivia Palermo, Kourtney Kardashian, Rihanna, Cardi B, Joey King & Demi Moore.

Mounaz’s vision is very much inspired by history and jewelry and has a loud aesthetic. She loves mixing the colors gold, black and silver together and is always leaning towards the brass metal. Aya is more on the minimal and subtle look and feel of things.

She’s more inspired by the leather part and loves to create form and shape- toning down Mounaz’s loudness. This just shows that the brand has a balance between setting trends in terms of applying new trends to leatherworks and reviving historical jewelry.

During the 2020 pandemic, the duo used the time to disconnect from the fast-paced world and reconnect with their inner selves, like most of us. These connections inspired their latest collection, Reconnected, taking cues from nature with woven materials, like Spanish and Indian Raffia.

Staying indoors makes you appreciate the outdoors more, so they took inspiration from Egypt’s land, featuring earthy colors, irregular shapes, artistry inspired by healing herbs, exotic fruits, and sharp mountains.

This collection was made possible by artisans, who handcrafted the pieces with sustainable materials, giving it a deeper meaning, representing nature in wearable art. Of course, all the handbags feature their iconic gold rod logo. Sounds like we already have some exquisite options for our outfits this summer!
